WPC Yvonne Fletcher, PC Stephen Tibble, PC Keith Blakelock, WPC Nina MacKay, PC Raja Ahmed, DC Stephen Oake, WPC Sharon Beshenivsky.

Just some of the serving UK Police Officers who, in recent memory, have given their lives in the line of duty to their communities - all murdered, some in a most brutal fashion, right here in the UK.

So, how many of their loving families have carried out a relentless campaign through the media - or in any other fashion - to make money......ooops....'get justice' for their beloved son/daughter/father/mother/brother etc?

And does anyone think for a split second that the grieving families of WPCs Fiona Bone and Nicola Hughes won't 'close ranks' and do exactly the same?

Ring any bells, folks?

have the families of the above been denied justice? I do feel sorry for Fletcher and her family, but it's one of those cases where international interests - the maintenance of a diplomatic system - takes precedence over private ones. Such cases are rare, however.
"Duncer - I respect your views, but it's unfair to criticise me. Kerosene started it."

I try to respect everyone's views, as I do yours, and I certainly wasn't criticising you, just pointing out that your earlier reference to perhaps understanding ACAB was a bit harsh. Apologies if it appeared otherwise.

There are times the police p1ss me off, but I know they are needed for the greater good.
<You see, fellow ABers?>

That's a very touching appeal kero but I think you'll notice (if you bother to read 'other Abers' posts) that everyone so far is a tad bored by your charmless approach and the damage you are doing to the reputation of the police

<There are those who wish to make sensible contributions to a thread of the utmost seriousness; and then again there are those who choose to simply spend their time and contributions, instead, slagging me off by way of personal insult?>

'utmost seriousness' ?

Stop digging pally - no one is taken in by this dishonest 'let's try another dig at the Tomlinson family' nonsense

I'm beginning to wonder if you really are ex-police ...

you could be a 'plant' by the Young Anarchists with the objective of eroding respect for the police force
The thing is Kerosene, people are talking about you not to you. This is because of your complete disregard for anyone else's opinion. You decided not to answer me last night because I wouldn't be a good boy and bullied around by you, that's your choice. You do not however have control over what I or any other member posts, so if you don't talk directly to people they will 'talk amongst themselves' and it's not very likely to be flattering is it? I suggest if you want to post in News, you learn to debate, otherwise your threads will provoke this sort of reaction, as people will not tolerate such childish behaviour.
Point taken Duncer. But I find it unbelievable that a person can have and spout such derogatory opinions in an aggressive manner in what is simply a family forum. Of course, there are many good police officers, and David Rathband can be added to the list given earlier. I'm unsure about PC Kero though!
Fair enough.
kero, I have neither slagged you off or insulted you, I stated that this subject being so robustly defended by yourself was becoming repetitive.
Your continued hectoring of your fellow ABers is brought about by the misguided sense of superiority you feel towards your fellow man having put in some time in the Force, sadly this happens a lot to people who put on uniform as part of their working life, and a lot find it difficult to leave behind when they retire/are no longer required.
It will get easier given time.
That is also a tad harsh.
The family of Yvonne Fletcher have long campaigned to bring her murderer to justice.
As they should.
kerosene - I think the key difference is to do with justice being seen to be done. The Hillborough victims association campaigned to clear the names of their loved ones.

Doreen Lawrence campaigned to see justice done for the murder of her son.

Sara Payne campaigned long and hard for he introduction of Sarah' Law after the murder of her daughter...

Is it not the case except with the murder of Officer Yvonne Fletcher and PC Keith Blakelock - that there have been successful prosecutions for the murders you've listed?

Why would the families of WPCs Fiona Bone and Nicola Hughes 'close ranks' when a suspect for their murders has already been committed to trial?

I don't get the connection...?

Also are you REALLY suggesting that there hasn't been significant coverage of this story on all media platforms?

Really?

It's literally EVERYWHERE!!!

sp,

Oh stop getting 'aereated'(hissy fit). You'll wear out your upper case and exclamation marks before long.

No, I'm merely underlining the difference in families of murdered Police Officers not rushing to get their '15 minutes of fame' in the full glare of the vast media machine in this country, but instead maintaining a dignified and laudable silence. God bless 'em. They know how to truly respect the memory of a fallen loved one.
kerosene.

You are a complete Snag.

What an arse you are.

I politely answered your question and you come back with insults.

Jerk.
For 'Snag' read pudding.

sp,

Oh, come on, 'hissy fit's' said very tongue in cheek, and anyway, why did you put so much in capitals and use so many exclamation marks if you weren't having one?

10 Clarion Street,

Of course none of us would know how we'd react, you're right. But my observations are obviously referring to just a handful of those Police families who HAVE suffered this appalling tragedy but have nevertheless not allowed their grief to be manipulated by the media.

Extreme dignity indeed.
