We went to the beach today. There were around 20 of us altogether. All related.
Had a brilliant time, up to a point.
The tide started to come in and we all had to move, which we had anticipated anyway so no problem.
Suddenly heard that our seven year old granddaughter had fallen around eight or nine feet onto solid concrete, landed on her back then bounced another 3 or 4 feet onto the beach.
The beach patrol guys arrived in minutes, 'phoned for a ambulance but prior to it coming we had to move gd off the beach or she would be under about three feet of water.
Found the stiffest board we could and got her onto it until a medic car arrived with a spinal board and an Air Ambulance arrived at around the same time.
So at one stage we had all that lot, plus the coastguard, police, you name it.
On the spot examination showed no spinal damage, thank God, but gd was transferred to hosp by ambulance car for check up and is to have a CAT scan as she has amnesia and her back is now starting to hurt.
I have to say all the professionals involved were really brilliant with my gd and did everything right. They are to be congratulated.
Must admit it's shaken us all up. I'm too old for all this excitement!!
Just waiting for scan result now.

Will keep you posted. Thank you.
Sorry to hear your day out ended with a bit of a crisis. Your GD is in the best hands so try to relax a bit. Please let us know how she gets on.
I am sorry to hear about your GD, I wish her well.
We trust and pray that she will be ok parkdale, how awful for you all. God bless x
what a time for you all...someone did the right thing in putting her on a stiff board, so hopefully, her back is hurting from landing on concrete...not the
softest landing is it.

Hope everything goes ok for her...
That is hell of a day.

I took the mater out and headed down the N Cornwall coast, see the Church I recently drew, lunch in a pub and then through Perranporth, St Agnes and down to Portreath and then on to Hell's Mouth (See Good Morning thread).

Anyway got back here and watching the news, some guy from St Austell took off from the grass-strip at Perranporth and ended up flying into the cliffs near Portreath and it would only have been 20 mins after we had gone through! He is, well, caput. Pics will be coming on the local news, Spotlight, I believe.
And of course, that she is ok - watch out for some shock in the next few days...Who came up with the stiff board idea - that was quick thinking.

The beach patrol guys, my daughter, son-in-law and I have all had first aid training so it was a unanimous decision I suppose, dt. Must admit I'not had to use my training to that extent in the 40+ years I've done it.
Parkdale, fingers crossed, albeit kind of inadequate at a time like this. She has youth on her side, I mean my nephews were made out of rubber until their teens. I hope this day ends well for you all.
Really hope she's going to be okay parkdale.
Jesus parkdale....please do keep us posted about your little grandaughter!! Hope shes feeling ok....wee soul xxx <3 xxxx

Thanks to all of you for your good wishes and prayers.
Just heard my gd has been discharged with medication. Presumably painkillers.
Praise God.
One bit of light relief. Three of us were taking it in turns to hold her head steady.
The medic was doing it and said, "You really must hold your head as still as you can. Do you understand?2
And what did she do? She nodded!!!!!!!!!
Good news, thanks for update x
Awww hehehe bless her!!

Do keep us posted, glad shes home to her own wee bed ...lots of gentle cuddles all round i think eh xxxxx
Glad to hear it turned out to be nothing serious.
What a day, I'm glad she's ok. I bet she'll be feeling a bit shaken up for the next few days. Hope she feels better soon.
thank goodness the results are positive..you must all be relieved!

thanks for the update..
Hope all goes well.
