LOL, i like it, thats the way to treat em.
The poor fella was just doing his job, I do hope you didn't pass on the Bug he may have a wife and children... Infection will travel. I'm sure he thought this old dear is poorly before knocking at your door.

Besides... I don't believe it.

Love it !!

thanks for your replies folks it was the govt bit that got my goat,
Well gosh Dee Sa - this is an identical situation to mine!!! I too have had the winter vomiting bug, been left with a dreadful chesty cough like yours, and had a oily elderly salesman round who I could quite well do without, a nasty piece of work he was, who insisted he wasn't selling anything but "just listen madam I am working on behalf of the government doing a survey" It was obviously something to do with either solar panels, cavity wall or loft insulation but I never let him get that far ....... I was jolly annoyed as 5 minutes previously his wife (obviously she was as they introduced their "spiel" with their names) had also pestered us. I yelled at him and told him that I had a "No Sales calls" notice up, we were designated to be a "No Cold Calling" street therefore he was breaking the law and why did he not think to liaise with his wife on which houses they had called on. He was really rude and indicated that it was my fault that his wife had called previously "How am I expected to know that!" he said!!!!!! GRRRRR luckily my Hubby rescued poor coughing me, and told him to push off .......................!!!!!
sounds like we need to find out the name of the company, and subject them to a Stern AB Glare....
I know Boxie - he did have the name of the company on his clipboard, usually I am spot on with this sort of action and would have phoned the company immediately about his rudeness, but to be honest I was feeling so ill, I just wanted him gone! I could have kicked myself afterwards for not chasing it up and Hubby arrived in from the garden too late to take note of the company too. I watched them visit every house in the street, most people didn't answer the door. I worry about some vulnerable old people in dealing with persistent rude people like that, thing was he wasn't a youngster, he must have been in his 60s........so beware "Mr & Mrs Taylor" we are on to you!!!! :)
dee sa, you have a goat ? :)
She 'had' one, past tense I think he took it.

anneasquith I have not but wouldnt mind one!
this salesman was a pushy young Asain guy who had "pushover" up in lights on his forehead once he saw I was an OAP.Had I been feeling myself I would have pushed him to tell me which govtdept and why they were calling in the evening and who could I phone to verify all this , but I was too ill to care I just wanted rid of.
Ann86 how long does this awful cough go on for ? I am now on antibiotics since yesterday, went to GP day before and he just gave me linctus which didnt help, so I had to go back.Last night for the first time ever I took Night Nurse in desperation to get some sleep, I did get a bit of sleep but today I am reeling round the house like a drunken sailor, I couldnt possibly drive the car I wont be taking anymore and I know I am ill because I havent touched the vodka for a whole week !
For any one with the virus commiserations and for the rest enjoy your weekend.
I jst tell them I'm renting the property and offer to give them the landlord's phone number.
i cannot remember the last time i even opened the door to a stranger... i can see out at who it is, and if i dont recognise them i don't open the door...

i can't remember the last time i did open the door to a stranger and it turned out to be a great experience or of some benefit to me... so i gave it up...
Thank goodness my doorbell is not working.
Well done Dee.
Sorry you are feeling so rotten. Hope you recover soon.
Tend not to answer the door after dark unless I am expecting someone. Yes, whoever it is could see my lights on. Tough. You want to see me, make an appointment, at my convenience.
My home might not be a castle but it is double locked.
Must admit to being less than polite to cold callers on the telephone. Next time I might just say a rude word or two.
Dee Sa - sorry you feeling so ill too - join the club! My cough is still bad, gone very chesty after weeks of being a dry tickly one. Went to the docs on Thursday and she listened to my chest and said it wasn't congested and that it would go eventually (great - want it gone now!) Tummy only getting back to normal 2 weeks on from tummy bug - and don't even mention the joint pains in my knees and shin bones! I'm turning into a geriatric hypochondriac Victoria Meldrew!! :))
