to claim for housing benefit on top of the £25,000 she already claims

how can a person claim for disability if they can stand outside and walk around in the winter time selling the big issue

do you you think the mail makes some of this up ?

>> £49.30 in disability living allowance and £55.50 in
carers’ allowance. <<

>> He said: ‘This is a victory for people struggling to work to
support their families. Anyone who thinks selling The Big
Issue on a British street in winter is a soft option should
have a go themselves.’ <<

Yet another example of paying the system. I really pity the decent folk on DLA that are getting means tested to save the government money, whilst they consider a new Royal Yacht and helping out the Euro. Nessie

I have read in article that she has a disabled son whom she gets disability for, so this is why she gets carers allowance but she sells BIG ISSUE so isnt she classed as working and earning so why can she be entitled to more benefits.
This country is well and truly ruined, every week we here of all these people claiming thousands of pounds each year without working, and the people that are working dont even earn half what these people get but still manage to pay tax, rent etc.
a big effin con, if the programme that was on a while back about romanian gypsies who have come to Britain and ended up selling the Big Issue, and earning a small fortune doing so, doesn't convince people that it's a scam, nothing will.
Em...that's about young children begging.
I don't think Big Issue sellers walk around.

There's a big ginger guy who sells The Big Issue outside Waterstone's here. I don't think he even goes home. If you walked up to the clock at two in the morning, I'm sure he'd be standing there.
No wonder this country is in such debt, and cant get out of it.

My 26 year old daughter has just come back from a year working in Australia and is now looking for a job which will probably only pay her £16,000 to £18,000 a year. On that she will pay tax.

The tax my daughter will pay on her low salary will be used to give money to these scroungers who come here only because we are a soft touch.

No wonder so many people dont both to go out to work. We are such a stupid country aren't we.

p.s. Since my daughter got back to the UK (about 3 weeks ago) you would not believe how many people have said to her she is mad to come back here, the country is finished, go back to Australia. She would love to but her visa was only for 1 year.

So even the local people in this country have no faith in its future.
p.s. About 10 years ago I was earning about £45,000 a year in a job in computers. I was aged about 53 and my company offered me a decent redundancy package.

I was fed up with paying so much tax to help out these scroungers that I took the redundancy and now live quite happily on my pension, paying far less tax.

If we keep giving money away to people like this then more and more people will either give up working as soon as they can, or leave the country to go to live somewhere were they dont give all their money away to scroungers.

We will gradually lose more and more of our best people, to be replaced by these scroungers.
If she is only earning a very small wage from the Big Issue she will be entitled to claim carer's allowance for her to care for the disabled person as long as she is devoting at least 38hrs per week actually doing any caring.

Carer's allowance is a 'gateway benefit' which gives her (some) rights to claim housing benefit.

It amazes me too DrFilth. I've never figured out how some people seem to be raking it in when on benefits, everyone i've ever known who claimed has had to live hand over fist and were not able to afford any luxuries at all.

the lady up near me when they cut the gas off for safety reasons, she had a small electric blow heater and two ring hob for cooking, don't know if she managed to get a loan from the dwp , will not find out till mid february when itchy comes back

that was and maybe still is her only heating for a 3 bed house
Forgive my ignorance, but why is somebody who has a house to live in selling a magazine which, I thought, was meant to be sold by homeless people? Or have I got it completely wrong?

If the amount of benefits she gets is true (and even though most people feel anything written by The Daily Moan has been written by The Devil herself, let's assume for the sake of the argument it is true) then would people agree that our benefit system is well and truly ******-up?

Getting £25,000 of our free money is the equivalent of, what, a £35,000 a year job? - which isn't a bad salary and well above the national average.

So the message is come to the UK with your kids and get the equivalent of a £35k a year job for doing nothing.
VHG - "p.s. About 10 years ago I was earning about £45,000 a year in a job in computers. I was aged about 53 and my company offered me a decent redundancy package.

So essentially, you have turned into a scrounger by paying very little into the system but will be the first to complain when it takes you ages to be seen by a doctor or the police don't turn up within 5 seconds of your phone call.
I believe Romanian gypsies are much discriminated against in their own country. Isn't it heartwarming to see this woman and her children now enjoying the freedoms that we take for granted.
If you think the Daily Mail made some of this up, why did you enter a DM link?

Surely the best thing would have been to research other sources before posting your thread.
'speaking through an interpreter' she says the only job she could get was selling the big issue. i'm not suprised she couldn't get a job if her english is that bad! why do we allow people to do this? it's ridiculous...no wonder we attract so many scroungers.
We deserve to be a laughing stock.

I agree this particular woman should not be able to sell the Big Issue, as she's not homeless.

She obviously has a good, well paid, solicitor and lots of 'ooman rights.

If she doesn't speak English, I bet she has acquired that term along with all the social security magic words
Get us out of the EU now, please.

We're the biggest contributor, and we have a massive adverse balance of trade with the EU.

They are going their own way now, and we'll never get an even playing field.

There's a vast army of talented crims and scroungers poised to get free entry.

Surely somebody can put a stop to our membership of this crazy corrupt ineffective bandwagon?
