What is the bridge in the film "True Lies" then? I thought that was the world's longest bridge. They did not really blow it up for the film did they? Is it true you can not see land at either end in the middle of it?

True Lies bridge is in Florida and is 7 miles long.

the Florida bridge is part of the road down the keys to Key West (nearer to Havana than to Miami). There are a lot of bridge bits but the longest is the seven-mile section; the rest are landbound.

Just looked at the China bridge on Google Earth. Looks like they had only just started building it when the satellite image was taken.

Good isn't it? Here in Edinburgh we are struggling to get approx 11 miles of tram for £700M. Maybe we should get the Chinese to build things for us.

its what i said, seeing as it was 17 years in the planning, that must have cropped up once or twice. How did they build it only 4 years.

Shed loads of cash and an establishment looking for high profile civil engineering projects to bolster their status in the eyes of their own citizens and the world.

as engineering works go, the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel is probably more interesting than the Seven-Mile Bridge; it's 20 miles in total.

Our politicians are not interested in England, they seem to be purposely running down this country, until it becomes a third world country.

Their immigration policy is to overcrowd this small country, and import cheap labour so that the indigenous population cannot compete.

They prefer to give our money to foreign countries, while cash strapping their own people.

I have witnessed this countries decline since the end of the 2nd World War, but have also seen other countries including our former enemies thrive and prosper.
