He's changed his mind. The then President-elect Trump ensured he was served an extra portion of chicken when Mr Lammy visited Washington last year. They are now teh best of mates:

So Lammy was right in 2018 but utterly wrong now.  Is your point we have an utterly incompetent flipflopper as a Foreign Secretary?

Was David Lammy also right when he voted to invade Iraq?

Heavens to Betsy ! Lammy actually has a supporter.

He's changed his tune then, he's now so far up Trump's chuff he can see Mandleson's feet!

Any different opinion now for diplamatic reasons dont make his 2018 prediction void now.

Was Trump making a tacit racist comment when he ensured Lammy's plate was piled high with fried chicken?

Question Author

Prediction spot on.

"Any different opinion now for diplamatic reasons,,,"

Which, loosely translated, means he believes he can be as rude as he likes to the President of the USA whilst in opposition  (and at a time when he had little expectation of being in government) but has to watch his mouth now he's found himself as the Foreign Secretary.

He did not only criticise The President for his take on world affairs. He also called him a "a woman-hating, neo-Nazi-sympathising sociopath."  I wonder if his opinion on those features of The President's character were also influenced by that extra portion of chicken.

Many politicians now in the UK government have tried, like Mr Lammy, to suggest their earlier utter rudeness towards the new President should be disregarded.

Diplomacy requires a measured view and often needs people to bite their tongue. What Mr Lammy and others have exhibited since November 5th is not diplomacy. It's hypocrisy.

And it's not exactly as if we had "international order" when Trump was out of offfice...

Lammy is an embarrassment to this country.
