He might have had a quiet word with Vladimir Putin on this matter.
No he won’t.
Tho it was interesting to see that even one of his staunchest supporters, academic Steven Calabresi, branded his recent tweet about postponing the election as “fascistic”.
I think personally that people who don’t know their posteriors from their middle arm joints, as Trump does not appear to, make poor fascists.
If*. Let's not get ahead of ourselves.

It's a worrying thought that Trump is laying the groundwork for rejecting the result of the election if he loses -- what else is the purpose of constantly calling 2020, in advance, "the most rigged election in our nations [sic] history", if not to undermine the idea that his defeat can be legitimate? It's shameful. But the election hasn't happened yet, and Trump has proven that he knows how to appeal to his base. Too, given the nature of the electoral college, he doesn't even need the majority of Americans on side. I would personally not be surprised if 2020 saw Trump win the College, but lose the popular vote by a record margin.

what's he worried about? I can't see the opposition has much.
they'll just shoot him if he tries.
It's interesting - the perceived wisdom is that Trump stood for president as a bit of a laugh because he never in his wildest dreams thought he would actually be elected.

Now he has been elected, he's decided that the position of the most powerful man in the western world almost matches up to his own perception of himself, so he figures he might like to hang onto the position for a bit longer.

Fortunately, there are mechanisms in place that will prevent him doing so, even though he thinks there aren't.
He doesn't want the 'igominy' of being a one term president
Bazile - // He doesn't want the 'igominy' of being a one term president //

An excellent point - that would result in his ego imploding, with fatalities within a hundred-mile radius!!!
Let's hope Trump and Johnson both become one term Wonders.
Wonder why either of them were ever elected at all
There is no 'ignominy' in being a one-term president unless you stand again and lose. Truman and Johnson both refused to stand for an extra term, Kennedy was assassinated. The only second-time losers in recent history are Ford (who was never elected by popular vote in the first place), Carter and Bush Snr (who is said to have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory).
he won't lose
I think all we’re seeing is a gut reaction to his abysmal poll ratings. He’s behind in every swing state - he’s even trailing in Arizona. He has an opponent who consistently refuses to be drawn into his bear baiting tactics and does not respond to his outrageous insults.
Before the last election he did exactly the same thing. Claimed it was all rigged. Then when he did win he claimed Clinton’s popular majority was false and set up an enquiry to look into it. Then mysteriously abandoned it.
If he loses this time I predict it will be loudly and ungraciously. But he’ll depart nonetheless.
If the US of A re-elect DJT it has only got itself to blame for 4 more years of having to hide behind the sofa everytime he opens his mouth.....

It's at times like this that I bet ToraToraTora wishes he hadn't gone and got himself suspended..... ;o)
Trump’s poll ratings don’t come close to Carter’s, Ford’s or Bush’s
If he does pull it off it will be well worth shouting about.
//It's interesting - the perceived wisdom is that Trump stood for president as a bit of a laugh because he never in his wildest dreams thought he would actually be elected.//

I'm still convinced it was a drunken New Year resolution, we've all made them, Go to Glastonbury in our 70s/80s, climb Kilimanjaro, run for President. We sober up however!

That is what I meant . Stand for re- election and lose

Huh ? - perhaps the ed can delete that please

What I meant to post was -

What has TTT done now to be suspended ?
Tora suspended?

As the colonials say, 'wait, what'.

I've clearly missed a meeting.
He is now off the naughty step but probably doesn't know it.
