If there was a referendum on the European Union I believe most people would want to reduce the EU influence on the UK and have it as a trading agreement only.
The major political parties offer a referendum then will not allow it when in power even if it is not binding. I believe, perhaps naively, all politicians want what is best for the UK some maybe confused but do they know something we do not?
