i think it will go on for a long time.
Judging by some of the contestants in quiz shows, we would be better served by a British History Month.
too true.
Anything that separates one from another is divisive and until we stop doing it division will continue to exist. It shouldn't be happening.
Poor old Laurence Fox
He's probably locked himself away
I think we still need one...if not for gound blacks to learn, then for others who have little knowledge.
I read an interview with David Olusaga...who presents A House Through Time...and it was quite informative...

That should read..."for young Blacks".
I agree with Pasta, loved the series of Roots which gave us an insight to how Black people were treated, likewise 12 years a slave, also many white singers learned their trade from black gospel singers , people like Elvis Presley
It has always been my experience that when being taught history, we remember the things that interest us. I could not, for instance, name any 2 successive reigning monarchs of the UK. Nor could i name more than a handful of particular battles that took place during the Crimean War. However, i did get a GCSE 'A' pass on the subject of the assassination of JFK.
Anyone not interested in history, black or British, will not be seeking to be further educated in these subjects.
Agree with Pasta on this. They were talking about Rosetta Tharpe on This Morning today. I'd never heard of her but she was inducted into the Music Hall of Fame a few years ago and had influenced people like Elvis.

I think maybe cultural history month might be more inclusive going forward
//However, i did get a GCSE 'A' pass on the subject of the assassination of JFK.//

Did you determine who did it?
^
Yeah, Dave. It was YOU!
// Did you determine who did it? //

everyone knows it was Kennedy himself, from the grassy knoll.....
Not sure I believe in that Barsel, it should be left to those who wish to learn it as otherwise it could be boring for some
Hopefully my grandson won't embarrass his Mum at the school gates again, when asked What have you done today in school? his reply was We're doing black people, don't see why, they're no different from anyone else!
Sensible lad you have there, zebo.
