This is quite difficult - I want to tell the world just how extraordinary the show last night was - but DB asks the audience not to give away what happens.

Which is absolutely right, the effect of the surprise/confusion/joy/bafflement would be seriously lessened if there were many clues given about the content of the show.

All I can really say is - I don't know how it's done - but it is wonderful.

I really can't believe what I saw (or appeared to see) at times - but I do know that it was worth every penny (and more) that we paid to see the show.

We were a group of very happy (if baffled) twitchers and puzzlers in Milton Keynes last night.

If you get a chance to see the show do not miss it.

It's the fascination, Dave....which was why I was so quiet driving home.....

What we saw couldn't possible happen but it did.....

I saw Siegfried and Roy live and they were wonderful, though I could work out how some of it was done.........but DB is beyond wonderful.......I still can't work out anything we saw......x
I think he's absolutely fantastic. I saw svengali in Oxford. Just amazing.
Isn't it, Pixie....I have two friends who won't come with us.....a street magician doing sleight of hand...is their view....

But it's not that at all......x
I also think he puts on a great show and am a huge fan, but I don't believe him when he says he doesn't use actors or stooges.
I wouldn't even call him a magician really. I think wiki describes him as a mentalist, whatever that is. OH and I had tickets for Milton Keynes. But now he's ex-oh and still has the tickets :-).
They aren't stooges, cloverjo. How.much would it cost to keep every one of those people quiet? A friend of mine was in Apocalypse- the main person. He had no idea.
I remember watching Apocalypse and thinking he must be an actor, and similarly with the recent show about people being encouraged to push a man off a roof. I stand corrected.
There was a lot of online speculation, to be fair, but he wasn't an actor.
Cloverjo, I never believe any magician when they say they don't use actors or stooges. Their 'acts' aren't possible otherwise ......

No-one has ever come forward and proved anything about DB using stooges at his shows, viv41.

The sheer number of people needed (perhaps 20 or 30 each night) and his method of selecting them seems to render it unlikely that they are all in on the act.

Which doesn't mean it isn't (very clever) trickery - just that it's not as obvious as 'planted' accomplices.
I went to a Penn and Teller show. I thought the man sat next to me was a stooge from the moment he took his seat. And, yes, he was picked to go on stage for a trick.
Thinking back to last night there must have been about two dozen people involved in the illusions......times that by the number of shows he performs.... that's a lot of folk to keep quiet....

Especially when you think of how much a newspaper would pay for .... This is how much Derren paid me to help him in his act........☺
I'm sorry, some of the acts just aren't possible without help. I'll admit DB puts on a good show though ...
Have you seen a live show,Viv?
gness, i'm assuming that he had the foresight and intuition not to get you up on the stage

No. Why should that change my view ?
Ael.....that would negate both his and the theatre's insurance.....and I sit way far back so I don't get involved.....though something did happen to me last night which I am still trying to work out.....
He did it....he couldn't have....but he influenced my mind somehow......and I will find out how he did it if I have to lock him in the shed!....☺
I think it could, Viv....it did me and some who were with me last night....

You have to accept it's not all sleight of hand......and not all could be achieved with stooges....so how?....is a really interesting question...well I find it so....x
Maybe x
I agree gness. It would be wildly unpredictable and expensive to keep so many hundreds of people completely quiet. And as I said, I know one of them. Sorry, vivid, I thought you were referring only to magicians, which I have no interest in. Derren Brown doesn't claim anything supernatural, he's a total sceptic. It's more suggestion and psychology. Very hard, but possible.
...viv! Autocorrect...x
