UFO should have been massive. Just as they seemed an album and tour away from top 10 in the States, Schenker quit. Still made some good music after that but could have been so much bigger.
I like the Electric Prunes. While not a huge band, they're certainly big enough? They're not quite "overlooked".

Maybe you'll have to define "made it" for this question for us?

Again, not quite overlooked or "huge" - but with "only" a "cult" following I offer Neutral Milk Hotel in the video below.

I don't think these guys ever really made it either. Went to see them a couple of times in local dives.

Not unknown by any means, and with a very loyal following; but The Barenaked Ladies have never been as popular or recognised over here as I feel they deserve. This is my favourite of theirs, love to turn it up loud and just stand with my eyes closed, listening to the harmonies ( sound on this link is a bit too echoey though) -

I've also just discovered the Silent League and I'm really enjoying what I've heard so far -

I always forget about the Bare Naked Ladies!

How could you, Ed! It seems we even like the same song. Sadly now that Steven Page has left it's just not the same. Listening to Kevin warble his way through 'Sound of your voice' is painful, and I don't think any of them would even attempt 'Break your Heart' -

Barenaked Ladies also workred a bit with Stephen Duffy from The Lilac Time, another one of my favourites -

Yes, "Data" a synthpop band that appeared in the mid 80's.
Consisting of singer "Frankie" and Georg Kajanus, the front man from Sailor (who had two hits in the 70s with "Girls Girls Girls" and "Glass Of Champagne").

I loved their stuff - shame it didn't really take off.

I saw them at the weekend at the High Voltage festival...
the Downliners Sect were extremely good during the British blues boom of the early 60s. They did an entertaining fairground version of Little Egypt, but it was Elvis's inferior version that got the attention.

Morning all,

Thought I should share this little Gem with you all.

I don't think they're past it yet, so they've not yet been consigned to the "Never Made It".

All the best,
