Hi all

One of the few tasks I am being trusted with is to think of a reading for my sisters to read out at our wedding. I have searched the web and only managed to come up with the usual 'Captain Correli' , 'The Prophet' or shakespear stuff. While I like these I was looking for something a little more original.

Was thinking song lyrics would be a nice idea but searching through lyrics sites is yielding no results.

Any suggetion would be greatly appreciated and would help me to prove to my fiance that I can contribute to the planning of our wedding without cocking it up!!!

How about this?i carry your heart with me
i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
i fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

sorry, the "How about this is NOT part of the poem, it should read

i carry your heart with me
i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
i fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

I read this one at a friends wedding and everyone thought it was lovely

Today is a day you will always remember
The greatest in anyones life
You'll start the day just two people in love
And you'll end it as husband and wife
It's a brand new beginning, the start of a journey
With moments to cherish and treasure
And although there'll be times when you both disagree
These will surely be outweighed by pleasure

You'll have heard many words of advice in the past
When the secrets of marriage were spoken
But you know that the answers lie hidden inside
Where the bond of true love lies unbroken
So be happy forever as lovers and friends
It's the dream of a new life for you
As you stand there together with love in your eyes
From the moment you whisper "I do"
And with luck all your hopes and dreams can be real
May success find its way to your hearts
Tomorrow can bring you the greatest of joys
But today is the day it all starts
At my son's wedding last July, myself and the bride's mother shared the reading:-

''This day I married my best friend"....etc. changing it to 'you' obviously.

It was relevant as they had been together 9 years and were, and still are the best of friends.

Thanks so far everyone.

missmuppet...who is that one by? I like that because it is third person and appropriate to be read out by my sisters. The others are lovely but sound like they should be read by myself or fiance.

oooooohhh I'm going to get some brownie points if I get this one right thanks!!!
Sorry jonesyonline, i really don't know, my friend (the one getting married) found it and asked me to do the reading.

I typed it up and then put it inside a card and after the wedding gave her and her husband the card to keep.

It is lovely though isn't it :-)
This is short and sweet...

If you can always be as close
And as happy as today,
Yet be secure enough to grow
And change along the way.
If you can keep for you alone
Your love as man and wife,
Yet find the time to share your joy
With others in your life.
If you can be as one
And walk through marriage hand in hand,
Yet still support the goals and dreams
That each of you have planned.
If you can dare to always go
Your separate ways together,
Then all the wonder of today
Will stay with you forever.
