Who is Roy Aires (I hope I've spelt this right ...)?? He's definately in music.

The name is spelled Roy Ayers. Roy is a pioneer of jazz-funk from the 1970's and 1980's, and is now heavily sampled by modern acid-jazz exponents. Roy's instrument of choice is the vibraphone, and he is very highly regarded in jazz and jazz-funk circles.

Roy Ayres - plays vibes extremely well, have seen him many times as Ronnie Scotts and the Jazz Cafe - most famous track is probably 'everybody loves the sunshine'

I have only one thing to say about Roy Ayres

 

"POO POO LA LA"

 

No ! Nothing to do with the Teletubbies.  That was the tune that introduced me to Roy Ayres.  Went to see him on tour with Lonnie Liston Smith, Tom Brown and Jean Carne in the mid-late 80s.  Great gig.
