Im just wondering if anyone else went to the Rush concert at the NEC im Birmingham recently, and if so what did you think ?. I went on Weds 15 Sept and thought it was absolutley brilliant and the drum solo was awesome, never heard anything like it before.

I was there, Rush played really well and were relaxed on stage. Peart played a slightly different version of his drum solo on each UK date (I went to 5 of the 6 gigs!!). The crowd were a bit subdued though but I put that down to it being a weeknight (the Saturday crowd were 'up for it'), but saying that the first night Wembley crowd went mad after Spirit Of Radio !! I put that down to relief in seeing the band. Let's hope it's not another 12 years until they tour the UK again (6 years if you take away the enforced hiatus).
Personally, I refuse to listen to drum solos except from Peart! Normally, they're excrementally dull.
Went to Wembley last week. The drum solo was absolutely mental! Where did they hide that Big Band?? BTW, was it just me or was the sound quality really bad?
Langer - I've always found the sound quality bad at Wembley. Birmingham NEC is a smaller arena and the sound is better, but not if your at the back because it echoes of the rear wall.

Starman only 5!!! why did you miss the 6th
I went on Sunday 12th to the Manchester gig with a fellow Rush fan and to the Birmingham NEC on the 15th With my girlfriend who's not into Rush at all. The Manchester gig was my first ever Rush live gig and I thought it was awesome. Though the sound could have been a bit better. Geddy's Keyboard Mike sounded a bit iffy. But it took nothing away from the show. Dreamline and 2112 being highlights. On the Wednesday at Birmingham the sound was far better, as was Neil's solo. As I mentioned above, my girlfriend doesn't really like or know much about Rush, but I asked her to pay attention to the Drum solo and she was suitably impressed. Both concerts were loud and the performances were spotless. We left the NEC gig early though (at the back end of By-tor) cos we had a long drive back home and I couldn't face queuing for an hour to get out of the NEC. Did Geddy say if they'd be back??
Langer - The sixth was in Glasgow, a little bit too far. Hilts - All he said was something like hope to see you soon. Make of that what you like!!
