I want to live a more diverse and musicaly rich area where a lot of musicians live, but want to stay in the UK. Where do you suggest I start looking?

London would seem most obvious to me?
Brighton also has quite a few.
Music of all kinds here in Leicester. Several orchestras, bands and choirs plus, if you feel so inclined, lots of opportunities to get into Asian music.
London OBV. Or Liverpool. Or maybe Sheffield
Depends on your choice of music...

Outside London, university towns would seem to offer the widest choice. There are first-rate symphony orchestras in Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester and Bournemouth and the main Scottish cities (apologies if I have missed anyone!). There is a thriving folk scene in Wales (and again in many university towns). Areas where people of a particular culture have settled will obviously offer that type of music.
Camden in London
What type of music scene are you looking for?
