I saw a duet some years ago in Grimsby at the Auditorium ,they called themselves The Swans, anybody heard of them and if yes........are they still around?I bought their cd Titled Photographs and Letters, the 2 men are called Paul Bell and Brendan Wade.It was 1999 when the CD was done,i have tried in the past to see if they did anymore music as they have a great talent and sound.Would be interested to find out if they are still on the go and if they have anymore CDs done as nobody seems to have their music anywhere.Regards.

you're thinking of these guys

see discography...Photos and Letters is a compilation.

surprised you say the two guys were Bell and Wade, as Michael Gira was the main man and songwriter and I wouldn't expect any band to carry on under the Swans name without him.

according to the site linked to above, they disbanded in 1997. i'm sure Wikipedia will tell you more including what Gira is up to now.

actually i have the cd infront of me and the names are who i said,it was put tog in ireland.Produced by chris porter, programming by steve Mc Nichol, recorded and mixed at porterhouse studios surrey,.no mention of who you said Regards

and actually i saw them in either 1999 or 2000 so they obviously arent the same guys you are talking about.Regards
ok here we go.Although Bell is still around writing music, since the duo split in 2003(ish) Brendan Wade has very much left the music scene. They only recorded the one album, some of which was done at Abbey Road!! Paul Bell `s most recent achievement(?) that you might have heard of is that he wrote the song Chantelle Houghton "Sang" on her Celebrity Big Brother appearance. Paul has a nephew (possibly called James/Jamie) and they are currently looking to record together

thanks everso.i thought they had only done the one CD and i listen to it all the time,i had both of them sign it for me ,its a disc that is very easy listening and brings back good memories for me.Regards.
Michael Gira and the delicious Jarboe were just Swans with no definite article (ie 'The')
Their gig at The Electric Ballroom (?) in about 1988 is still the loudest gig I have ever been to.

No idea who 'The Swans' are, I'm afraid.
yeah i did think that the presence of the definite article and the unexpected band member names may indicate that we were talking about different artists....but allmusic (normally a comprehensive and reliable source) has Photographs and Letters in their discography for Swans (i.e. the Michael Gira group), though if one examines the cover picture (as presented in said discography) it's clear that the band that released that is The Swans.

I shall write to them and correct them forthwith. Apologies for the dodgy info.
