.....it's happened to me 3 times in the last 24hrs....a song has come on the radio and I've immediately thought "Oh I love this song" then proceeded to sing every word (and dance, accompanied by laughing 3 yr old) to all three records (Respect by Erasure, Don't Stop Believing by Journey, and Sinful by Pete Wylie). Yet, if anyone asked me to name a top 20 fav songs of all time, I doubt I'd even think of 2 out of the three of them. But it fair brightened up my day, hearing old favourites again. When did a song last surprise you?? :o)

I know exactly what you mean Kick. It's happened to me loads of times. Most recently, I was listening to "Philadelphia Classics 2", about a week ago on a train journey in Scotland, and "Armed and Extremely Dangerous" by First Choice - a song I remember well from the charts in my youth and always believed to be profoundly rubbish - came on. Well knock me down with a feather, if it isn't bloody fantastic. Mind you, I love Disco now, and didn't then...

lol ST, with you on that one, thanks for sharing :o)) I mean Journey - Don't Stop Believing?? I was only 10 when it first came out and it wasn't the kind of thing I'd have listened to then, but I loved every second! And HOW exactly do I know all the words? But that's another question........... :o)
Hey Kick I'm a bit older than you and you saying about Journey's 'Don't Stop Believing' just took me back to rock night at the Night Owl in Cheltenham. They used to play it all the time. Couldn't sing a word of it right now but put it on and I can sing it all the way through.
I know exactly what you mean though, didn't like em enough to buy em (but I did have the Journey album on vinyl...creak!) but love it when they come on the radio.
hi kick!!!

i would be here all night naming songs but if i ever go anywhere with the wife in the car i am always singing along to the radio, she even said the other week " how do you know all the words?"

just remembered........"cast ,alright!" i heard it a few weeks back on t wireless and i loved it!!!
"Don't Stop Believin'" - what a great track. My friends and I were well into it at the time. Journey - great band, but relatively unknown in this country, and "DSB" wasn't a big chart hit here (was it?...). So how come people know all the words?! One of those "sleepers" I suppose that (very surprisingly) weren't hits.

ST, it got to No. 9 in 1981 I think. I absolutely love it :o) Weird the songs that everyone seems to know, but that would fall below the radar otherwise. Leaving on a Jet Plane is exactly the same for me, before my time, couldn't tell you the words, but if it came on the radio now, I'd sing every syllable.
