I buy Kerrang, but it's not as good as it used to be.x

used to buy Vox.....but dont think its still going now.

Also NME when it used to be good

ooh and Melody Maker. Think thats gone now too.

vox was awesome in its day

I used to like Select as well as Q before it went all pompous.

Kerrang is still around and unfortunatly not very good these days more aimed at an age group than the music. I buy Q - again not brilliant, mainly for work research. I bought Mojo for the first time last month the Punk edition and its really good, so I will carry on buying it.

Mine used to be Melody Maker as they were the only ones at the time which used to give away posters of the Manics and stuff.

That was until the bleedin' NME bought them out and stopped producing it.

*Hisssssss* NME *Hisssssssss*

Just to correct you 198x - NME didn't 'buy out' Melody Maker, both titles are / were published by IPC Magazines who decided that the market would not support two 'inkies' as the weekly music papers were called. MM was the weaker seller, so the powers-that-be closed it and 'merged it with NME, wereupon it was quietly forgotten.

I think The Word takes some beating, although I still buy NME, Kerrang!, Q and others for research - I'm a part-time music journalist. I used to write for MM in the 1980's.

used to be Q but thats gine down hill now ny fav is uncut.

Thanks Andy for the correction, maybe now I won't detest NME so much and actually buy the mag once in a while.

I doubt I would though

I know what you mean 198x - their coverage is admirable, but sadly matchedd only by their insufferable smugness and sense of 'irony'.
