I use www.allofmp3.com. I've been using it for about 18 months now and have had nothing but excellent service.

Here's how it works - you register, then load up your account held on the site with either $10, $15, $25 or $50.

Once you've got your balance, you're then free to download until you spend all your money.

The music is priced per track, rather than per album, and the cost of each track is dependent on the quality of the download (the higher the bitrate, the more expensive).

However, the downloads are ridiculously cheap. If you wanted to download the new Prince album '3121' you would pay $1.51 (86p).

And it's completely legal..the site is based in Russia and is validated by the Russian Multimedia and Internet Society. It's absolutely legit. I've used a credit card on there for 18 months and kept a close eye on deductions. Nothing unsavoury!

And finally - their catalogue is HUGE!

By the way...perhaps I didn't make it clear...it would be 86p for the whole Prince album. Not per track.

shareaza or blubster are good and they are free
bear share...
limewire is brill and free and quick ....give it a try
itunes does it for me
