can you recommend any good US bands?

I really like American music that gets pretty much ignored over here (uk) and when on holiday i usually try to find something new.

I like people like Counting Crows, Hootie, Gavin Degraw, Josh Kelley, John Mayer etc and was wondering if there were any americans (or just people who like this sort of music) that could recommend something i may not of heard of......any new up and coming bands etc... Ta!

My girlfriend is Canadian and she is always going on about Dave matthews band they are a touring band. Not bad.

yeh i'll agree with seanywal, dave matthews band are good!! also bands like.. five for fighting, train, ryan cabrera, not bad!

Better than Ezra, Leona Naess, Bright Eyes, Teitur, Copeland, Iron and Wine, Sondre Lerch are similiar to the bands you mentioned. Something a little more rockier would be Panic at the Disco, Billy Talent, Coheed and Cambria, Sugarcult, Dashboard Confessionals and Silverchair. That should get you started!!

I'm English and they're Canadian, but what about the (mighty) Tragically Hip? Criminally underrated. Style has changed a bit over the years - currently heavy, but rootsy. Try a few soundfiles first maybe...?
