What do you think are better covers than the original versions.

I quite like Joe Cocker's version of With a little help from my friends and Gary Jules, Mad World.

Talking back to the night.

Better than Stevie Winwood's original.
Creedence Clearwater Revival's rock version of I Heard It Through The Grapevine.
While i enjoyed the original by Prince, Sinead O'Connor's rendition of Nothing Compares 2U is by far the better version, imvho.
the Bobby Fuller Four's "I Fought the Law", as covered by The Clash.....
Never liked the song Scarlet Ribbons until I heard The Cats version.

Disturbed- Sound of Silence
The Almighty- You ain't seen nothing yet. At the time, I didn't know it was a cover. Same with All the Young Dudes, Bruce Dickenson.
Question Author
I found Disturbed's version of Sound of Silence quite disturbing ;o)

Johnny Cash's version of Hurt by the Nine Inch Nails
some years ago, Dave McCabe of the Zutons was asked if the band, on their forthcoming tour, would be playing their cover of Amy Winehouse's "Valerie".

he replied "yes, we probably will".
I know. It was brilliant:-)
Elvis Costello "SHE"
also
Blancmange "The Day Before You Came"
Mott The Hoople were on the verge of calling it a day when Bowie wrote All The Young Dudes for them.
Thanks ken- but still prefer my version:-)
