Watching episode 1 of Outlander on Netfix last night, sung over the starting credits was a beautiful rendition of this, surely one of the World's most beautiful songs. Does anyone know whom it is by, and by the way, what is your favourite version of this song?

Sir Harold Boulton wrote the lyrics to the Skye Boat Song , about Bonnie Prince Charlie
Paul Robeson sang it beautifully

Yes, of course, it's called The Skye Boat Song
If you've only just discovered Outlander, you're in for a treat - intriguing, and pretty gruesome in places. Series 5 is about to start....

Thanks Corby!
Any version of this tends to be good, K.

In the Outlander version, Boulton's original lyrics were replaced by Robert Louis Stevenson's.
I think that's what we have here.
I have read all eight of the Outlander books, and am enjoying watching it on screen, reading the books gives you much more detail, and some changes have to be made to televise it, enjoying it though, I am looking forward to her ninth Outlander book out in the near future.

Having now watched 4 episodes, I'm beginning to wonder if this isn't the programme which has fuelled the upsurge in Scottish nationalism, & Jimmy Krankie's hatred of the English, what with all those naughty Redcoats. Mind you, the 18th century Scots seem to have needed no lessons in violence! :0)
