Hi I heard a repeat of a David Holmes NTS show either in January or December and it didn't say which one it was (there's about 60 x 2 hr episodes to choose from unfortunately). There was a strange song where the main sound was almost like a constant vaccuum cleaner sound, and it had a male voice talking over it, almost distorted as if it was under water, and it sounded like it was slowly trying to pick up a girl through banal small talk... asking questions like "do ... you... come... here... often?" any help much appreciated! thanks x

Possibly?

Well ,t wo contrasting suggestions there. I think Mamyalynne's is the more likely one- but what a strange song- even for 1966 it sounds very twee and old-fashioned but alluring at the same time. Interesting to see that Wikipedia says it "is considered to be the first openly "gay" pop record release by a UK major label"
Just listened to The Tornadoes again. I've just realised what it reminds me of from the early sixties- Pinkie and Perky used to sing over songs like this

Thanks for your responses, unfortunately it's neither the music is more modern, it sounds strange but it does literally sound like a vaccuum cleaner sound.
Sounds like something designed to be played to your pets.
No one else will want vacuum cleaner sounds on.
