This ad has got me thinking and confused. I know someone on here will help :-) Either this song, or Tubthumping or something else used to get the dancefloor sitting in a line on the floor as if in a rowing boat (late 90s early 00s??). Does anyone know which track it was or am I imagining it?

I haven't seen the ad but that sounds like Ooops Upside Your Head by the Gap Band (1970s)

Haven't seen the ad so don't know if previous answer is correct, but there's this one at least similar. (sorry about the vid too - best I could find.

Oh thanks, that was quick. I see that came out in 1979 but that's certainly not when I remember it from (the dance). It must have become a 'party' classic.
I remember it from 1979 as we were in the disco when we were underage. I`ll have to google the ad. Is it a remix?
This is the song from the Ad.

Sorry, the M&S ad uses Jump Around
Wisconsin seem to have a thing about Jump Around, quite a few clips of them on youtube but they're not sitting on the floor :-)

It's just the style reminded me of the floor thing but 237 was first right with the song that started it off - although it looks in the throes of a party anything that lends itself to getting on the floor and rowing is considered fun :-)
Joggerjayne suggested the various things that one might do whenever that song is played ;-)

done it again - I'm getting good at this

forgetting the link that is :-D

Prudie, it's the getting back up off the floor these days which can be a bit of a challenge :-))
That song crops up in so many places. I`m quite surprised to see that they are white. I thought they were black lads. Good song
Were you thinking of Rock the Boat Prudie? that used to get everyone in line as if rowing a boat
Love Jump Around
Reminds me of this!

Ooops Upside Your Head and the 'rowing boat' scenario that went with it were around in the late seventies and early eighties.

My fellow Stokies may well have attended nights at Sammi Belles, Maxims, or the Place where I used to DJ and play the 12" version so everyone got a good go at rowing their boat - on Thursday at Sammis, the manager would give a bottle of champagne to the best team!!
