I read in the newspaper on Saturday that Aled Jones is standing for First Minister in Wales. Is that true?

No reports of it on www.bbc.co.uk but this is not, of course, conclusive evidence against what you read!
Somewhat akin to Michael Ball standing as Prime Minister (i.e. a few intervening steps are required).

Aled Jones would first need to be elected as an Assembly Member (AM) of the Welsh Assembly and then selected as the leader of the ruling party (Welsh Assembly Government) to attain the office of First Minister for Wales.

Is that why he hasn't been on Moyles's show lately?
