I desperately need to find the name of a piece of music..it's sending me crazy!!
It's 20 or so years since I last heard it but the tune has stayed with me.
It's played on a lower brass instrument and is a kind of gallop, 6/8 time piece of music.
I've tried youtube, midomi, musicpedia and all those but with no luck.
It's not a well-known piece I don't think.
I danced to it at school and I'd love to do it with my kids.
Any ideas what else I can try?
I went to the pictures tomorrow,
I took a front seat at the back.
An old lady gave me some chocolates -
I ate them and gave her them back.
I fell from the pit to the gallery
And broke a front bone in my back.
There is more but it's eighty years since I last heard it.
Try refining your query. Below are four tunes which you can find on youtube. Listen to them and choose which comes nearest to the one you are trying to remember. Then, from that starting point you can re-send your query. Keep choosing whichever is nearest to your memory and you will, eventually stumble across it.
Start with: Sarie Marie; William Tell Overture; Entry of the Gladiators; In a Market.
Everyone seems to be thinking about classical music here but the reference to dancing to the music at school makes me think of something more like this:
