Was it based on a real person, it don't seem like the kind of name that one would make up.

I don't think any of the covers come close to the original!!
Probably the most famous of all 'Turntable' hits in the 60s. An entrant into the Radio Caroline and Radio London Pirate charts and indeed all the music paper charts at the time but surprisingly never became a UK chart hit until that dreadful cover version by Marc Almond, what a great song. I get asked for it all the time at my 'Beat The Jock' nights and people are amazed when I tell them it was never a UK hit.
