I want to go and see Ben Howard play but I don't know anyone else that likes him or would even just go with me but I think I'd feel a bit odd going on my own. Would you?

No. I admire people who do things on their own....but I couldn't do it.
Yes, I haven't in recent years but in the past I often used to go on my own!
I often go to gigs on my own as my OH doesn't have the same musical tastes as me. Having said that it's probably easier for a bloke, tho I have seen unattached ladies there. Go for it!
If you go with someone that doesn't know or like the artist as much as you do, you're probably better going on your own. Otherwise you are looking over you're shoulder to see if they are enjoying which will ruin the gig for yourself.
Saying that....I'd go to more or less any gig if someone asked me. Even if it's not my taste of music I still enjoy watching live music.
All the time - I'd rather go on my own than worry that someone else wasn't enjoying it. It also makes the "f*ck this I'm off" decision easier if necessary.

Proably easier (certainly for a woman) in a seated, concert venue rather than a smaller bar/club?
I used to, esp when I was into music, booking bands for my Uni.....
In fact I used to prefer going to raves on my, I just liked that you don't have to worry about anyone else so you can let your hair down and have a really good night!
Been to see Rush on their last two tours on my own. My wife doesn't like them, I love them. Didn't feel odd!

Wanna come see Ben Howard then ummmm? Lol

Having just looked the next available tickets are not until November in Brixton so I might find someone by then but I'm pretty self concious and would feel a bit like everyone was going, "ha ha look at that loner who's come here all on her own".
When i went to see usher a lady was on her own....admirable and fair play she was dancing about on her own and clapping etc....but i cringed a bit...i know thats not nice.l.but i couldnt do it.....

Id go for meals on my own etc...but not a concert x
Who is Ben Howard ?.

Exactly Tinks. I'd feel a bit sorry for a girl at a gig on her own.

Just a guy with a guitars Tony. A bit Damian rice-esque.
I'd like him then :-)
Best to attend soirees alone to meet with like-minded peeps. Nowt worse than a bored companion.
Yes probably although it would be one of the few things I would feel uncomfortable about doing alone. I've gone for dinner, a drink, to the cinema, to the theatre, watched music in the pub, etc.. on my own but a gig would make me feel a little uncomfortable. But then if I really wanted to go I'd grin and bear it... I find at gigs I talk to a lot of people randomly anyway so would actually probably be fine :c)
I would go no problem. If I want to do something and no one else wants to do it I go by myself.
As a music writer, I go to gigs constantly, and I am almost always on my own - the present Mrs Hughes likes almost none of the music i enjoy professionally or socialy.

As a guy it is easier, but consider this - I wrote for five years as the UK Correspondent for Metal Maniacs, a New York extreme metal title, they thought bands like Metallica were lighweights!

That meant me going to gigs played by obscure Scaninavian metalheads, and when you consider that I look like a Loyd Grossman / Paul McKenna hybrid, andf I'm fifty-seven, you can imagine how much I stuck out!

But the great thing about gigs is, no-one cares who you are, what you look like, or indeed who you are with, you can often get into conversation with people near you, and have a nice evening with some company, or not if you prefer to be left on your own.

I'd get along to any artist you enjoy - no-one is going to accuse you of being a saddo because you are alone, no-one will notice, or care, neither should you.
I do it all the time I'm a woman and been Brixton academy and O2 arena more times than I can remember - once you are in there if you are in the standing bit you cant speak to your friends anyway it makes no difference = I would rather that than miss something I want to see
I'm like Ummmm... I wouldn't want to go myself but would go with others to see whatever they wanted to see. Unless of course it was Cheryl Cole or someone like that!! :-)
