I remember as a child, I'm 46 now, hearing the theme to "World in Action", with it's tremendous gravelly organ and guitar. Does anyone know where I can get a copy of this powerful but short piece?
many, many, thanks.

I'm pretty sure that's Jam for World In Action by Jonathan Weston.
There is an interesting story behind this music. The musician respinsible for the organ, Shawn Phillips never got paid any royalies, even though it was used for over 30 years and nearly £200,000 was 'stole' by someone else cashing the cheques.

Only the previous World in Action theme by Laurie Johnson is on iTunes. That is not the one you were enquiring about but ABers might give it a isten.

I used to like this one as well. (Hope this link works!)

// Jonathan Weston had nothing to do with this piece of music. In fact, he walked into the session, as we were finishing up. I improvised it on the spot with Mick Weaver, and John Shepphard, (Producer for World In Action), paid for the session. At the time, I was not a member of the British Musicians Union, and there was some question as to how I\'d get paid, but Granada told John that night when he called them, that I might make, oh..................2 or 3 pounds at the most. So, Jonathan said we could put his name down as composer, and if anything came in, he would give it to me. Never did any of us dream that this music would run for more than 30 years. it was only 20 years later that I found out Weston had been collecting the royalties all those years. He collected over£ 189000 pounds, and never gave me a penny of it. The man was, and remains a slimeball, and an *** with a capitol A. I wish you Health, Love, and Clarity, Shawn Phillips. //
