Women Car Buyers Pushed Online

Every now and then we all have to buy a new car. Whether the one we have is old and broken or the family is expanding and we need more seats. Many of us do not relish the idea of trawling around car lots looking for something suitable that is in our price range. Another worry many of us have is that we will be ‘forced’ into a purchase that we are not happy with because the salesman was very insistent that it was the car for us. Well it seems this is more of a problem for those of the fairer sex a recent survey has found.

Pushy, aggressive and patronising sales staff are driving women away from garages and onto the internet when they want to buy a car, claims new research.

The survey by a well known online marketing company found that 80 per cent of all female motorists felt pressured into making a decision by forecourt sales staff. Three quarters of all women said that they found online information "more trustworthy".

"Virtual showrooms put women in the driving seat when buying a car and allow them to cherry-pick the best deals at leisure," said a representative of the marketing company.

Online sales have already transformed the motor insurance industry and new vehicle sales are predicted to be in line for a major shakeup in the next few years. Female drivers, sick of the Swiss Tony attitudes still found in many dealerships now appear to be leading the revolution.

You can find amazing deals online for anything and cars are no exception. However, it is important that you do actually visit the vehicle before laying out any money. Also if possible do a check on the number plate on the DVLA website. This will ensure the car is not stolen or under any suspicion. Preferably take someone with you to make sure you don’t miss anything.
