Mazda Launches Performance Mazda6

16:36 Mon 24th May 2010 |

Mazda is a company that likes to push back the boundaries and set new standards in style and comfort. Their ‘Zoom-Zoom’ tag line shows the company does things that are daring, ingenious and fun.

Mazda has announced the launch of the high-performance version of the Mazda6. Eager petrol heads may be disappointed however, with Mazda planning a limited allocation to the UK and already predicting a "healthy" waiting list.

The manufacturer claims the Mazda6 is a car for those with an unashamed passion for driving. It has a distinctive sporty design, an exhilarating drive with proven reliability and competitive CO2 emissions. The car has a revised front fascia with a raised hood. The all wheel drive system uses Mazda's Active Torque Split computer-based control which routes up to 50% of the power to the rear wheels depending on driving conditions.

At around £24,000 the MPS comes with a 256bhp 2.3-litre turbo engine which features direct fuel injection, producing a top speed of 150mph and powering it to 62mph within 6.6 seconds. It will be launched with only one specification, offering a six-speed manual, 18" alloys, bucket seats, leather interior and seven speaker Bose sound system.

Also included are the usual ABS, EBD, brake assist, dynamic stability control and traction control, with a DVD-based sat-nav system with 7" monitor as an optional extra.
