Audi Launches New Supercar

16:36 Mon 24th May 2010 |

Audi is a name synonymous with quality and luxury. The company was the first German automobile manufacturer to present a production car and have gone from strength to strength ever since.

Audi has diversified its executive car line-up with a racing-pedigree sports car. The R8 supercar, named after the Audi Le Mans 24-hour winner. The car comes with a choice of two engines, one supplied by Lamborghini, which is run by Audi.

The R8 will be equipped with all the latest safety features including two full-size airbags for you and your passenger and side airbags for your head and thorax region are integrated into the seat backrests.

High-performance sports cars have a reputation for being cramped, hot, difficult to drive and uncomfortable, and that reputation isn’t entirely unjustified. However the Audi R8 Coupé re-writes the rule book. Every modern automotive feature and convenience you could require is supplied.

The instrumentation is appealing and uncluttered. Inspired by Audi racing cars, it’s the picture of clarity; leaving you in no doubt about the R8’s operating status.

The detuned Gallardo five-litre V10 will supply around 450bhp to the R8. Alternatively, Audi is expected to supply the model with the 420bhp V8 used in the RS 4.

The vehicle will be available from around £70,000, putting it into competition against the Aston Martin V8 Vantage.
