30mph Signs With No Cancel!

Greetings each.
I have recently started to notice30mph signs posted on roads leading out of Towns, particularly those which insist on imposing those stupid 20mph limits. The problem lies in that there is no corresponding cancellation or "national speed limit" sign at the other end of the road.
Driving out of a village yesterday I passed two 30mph signs, then drove approx 4 miles across open country until I passed another set of 30mph signs on entering the next village!
Traffic leaving that village would have seen the "national speed limit" sign on the reverse so would naturally drive at that speed, while I approaching from the opposite direction would (in theory) be limited to 30mph.
I don't think these signs are enforceable in law if there is no cancelling sign at the other end!
Does anyone have any thoughts on this please?
Be good!
Cheers.

If the road does not have any street lights on it it must have repeat 30mph speed limit signs every 200 yards, if there are no repeater signs you must be in a 60mph area if the road is a single carriageway.
As above, there are no "cancel" signs, there are signs reenforcing the limit or signs changing the limit. In the absence of lamp posts a certain dstance apart and the absence of a limit sign for 200 (i think) yards the limit reverts to the national speed limit.
I believe that the above two posters have answered this question correctly – hang your head in shame for not knowing the relevant part of the highway code.

A few years ago, I recall driving along the M25, turning onto the M4 – a variable speed limit was displayed at 60 mph on leaving the M25. No other speed limit or cancellation was displayed until I left the M4 for Bath – should I have obeyed this 60 limit all the way to junction 18 along the M4?

The other two posters did indeed give me the answer to the question I asked.
I did not ask for your opinions regarding my knowledge of the Highway Code.
I passed my driving test in 1968 and have been the cause of one accident since then.
I also have a completely clean driving licence without any trace of endorsements/disqualifications/penalty points. I have not been done for any parking infringements either.
While we are at it:
I have no criminal convictions either!
If you are as smart as you claim to be, which I doubt very much, you should be quite capable of answering your own poxy question.
Smart-Ass!
