I have noticed that the dial for the cabin blower doesn't work when it's on the second of four settings (the one it's on the most). All the other fan speed settings work. I have a Haynes manual but can't find anything in there about it.

What is the most likely cause of this problem and is it something I can likely fix myself with little knowledge or am I going to have to pay someone to sort out this annoyance?

Definitely the Heater Blower Ballast Resistor broken/failed.
You will find it either next to/near the neater blower motor (in the airstream) or behind the engine bay front panel.
You need to replace it.

Thanks AlBags, the Haynes manual does in fact detail this now that I know what I'm looking for. It looks easy to replace, rated 2 spanners and seems easy to access as well, it is only kept in with two retaining bolts.

Do you have any recommendations on where best to source a replacement part or is it just a Halfords jobby?
Hi
The old ones where you could see the break/burn in the connections .. you could repair yourself by crimping/re-soldering. However, you may not be able to. In this case .. I would buy one of these ..
Having bought a few Skyline parts from Nissan, I know all parts are pretty dear these days from them! I expect a Nissan one is £50 or so.

PS. Some of those ebay listings have part nos. listed, so compare with yours!
