Driving on the A4 motorway towards Luxembourg earlier this week on an empty stretch I came up to a pale blue Fiat 500 doing about 40mph in the outside lane, I slowed up behind him hoping he would pull over but he remained doggedly there, after a decent pause, I gave him a quick headlight flash, but no joy, so with lights on I overtook him on the inside -obviously his plan- and continued to accelerate away from him in the outside lane, but to my surprise he stuck to my tail, there was now a trail of lorries in the slow lane so I kept the pedal down until I was up to 165 kph - just over the ton, but he stayed there, I'm in an Audi A4, could have kept on, but being chased by Belgian weirdos is not to my taste and that was enough for me, so I pulled into a gap and he accelerated by. Any ideas what he could have done to soup it up? I hope he had complimented whatever he had done with brakes etc.

that's not souped up, assuming you are talking about a modern Fiat 500, it's not a 500, it can be up to 1.4, well capable of 100mph+ straight out the box.

Is that a fact, -amazing, but it didn't appear to be very modern in design. Thanks for the info.
was iot like the one in ABerrant's link? It's meant to resemble the old on in a sort of retro look, here is the old one:

Could have been a new Fiat 500 Abarth the go faster one, Top speed 128mph
Question Author
Looking at the link of ABerrant I think it must have been the 1.4 16valve. It did not have the shape of the Abarth, which I see the esse esse version does 131mph !! which must be very hairy in such a short wheelbase vehicle. There even seems to be a Ferrari version OMG !!
Try the back roads .. He's leave an A4 for dust : )
Have you ever drunk Wormeldange , khandro? - you would be able to do 165kph+ in a clapped out Beetle.......

absolutely not mdoo, it was an intended, rather sick, ploy, and very dangerous one too! I followed at a long distance and saw him repeat similarly with someone else, he knew the stretch very well as he entered parking areas at full speed, slowed down slightly, so he could re-emerge behind his target again. Sad guy! Incidentally, I have since looked at pics of Fiat 500's and it was a 'Retro' (Old fashioned looking) looking model. Overtaking on the inside is definitely a no-no.
