Hi

Recently acquired a 2003 model, the figures say it should return over 50mpg extra urban but my trip computer is giving 34mpg over multiple journey average. My old X reg Audi A4 Tdi used to give me 48 on similar trips.
Very disappointed.

Any thoughts anybody?

I think the answer here lies in one of two directions.
1. The service history is rubbish and you need to bring that up to speed with a full and proper service, as fuel filters are often neglected and only engine oil is changed.

2. The engine has actually completed far too many miles for its own good, considerable on a VW diesel, and has just got too tired.

My Skoda Octavia diesel turns out 50 to 55 mpg most trips.
