Honda Civic LSi - Auto choke problem

I have a Honda Civic which is mostly problem free, the only thing it doesn't like is short runs then being switched off. If you try to re-start within a few minutes it won't catch. It's OK if you leave it for about 5 minutes, like it needs to cool down but it's not even had time to warm up properly.
So is there an automatic choke thingy that needs to settle back down before it'll work again or something else and what can I do about it?

Thanks

It could be that there is too much petrol in the cylinders and it is flooding. Have you tried sticking the pedal down to the floor as you turn the engine over?

Yep, tried all the usual stuff and it doesn't help, just seems to make it worse.
By "catch" I presume you mean the starter motor works Ok but the engine does not start?.

If so it could be The Crank/TDC Sensor.
It's one of the very few common (ish) problems on hondas

(my old rover (honda engined) suffered from it)
Toureman could be right. I had exactly the same problem once with a Mecedes 124, it drove me nuts, finally it was traced to the sensor.
Have you read the manual for starting procedures?

For many modern cars it is a crime, punishable by death, to even touch the accelerator pedal while starting the car.
