Warranty Cover - Alloy Wheels

I have a 2007 (57) VW Jetta TDi SE DSG, which is under warranty until October 2010. It has been serviced at main dealer in accordance with the manufacturer's service schedule.

Yesterday I noticed that each of the alloy wheels has started to corrode, starting in the centre of each wheel working outwards. Some are worse than others.

The nearside front wheel does have some minor kerbing to part of the rim but there is no corrosion there, the rot is clearly not caused by parking damage.

Does anyone know if alloy wheels are covered by the VW Warranty and if so, do I just present the vehicle to the main dealer? I'd like this to be sorted but don't want to do without the car if possible. My father in law had the wheels on his Lexus IS200SE exchanged under warranty for exactly the same problem but I was unsure if VW cover this.

All help gratefully received, thank you.

call them and ask. It wont hurt.
I viewed so Chrysler Voyagers a few weeks back and passed comment to the salesman that everyone one had corroded alloys.
He said that nearly all new(ish) cars had same problems but that most companies would replace under warranty, so any car i purchased would have a new set of alloys if i requested under warranty.

He also said that the companies arent changing the wheels on the cars when made because it doesnt happen to any of the wheels in europe, only in the UK. Maybe something in the salt grit used this winter
