Any views on buying a used Jag, perhaps R, S, or T reg? Any particular model better than any other? What faults should I look out for? Is it true that a Jag is rich man's car, due to servicing, parts, etc?

Thank you, Allen, for your observations. I'm taking them seriously. What a sad (and I'm sure, accurate) picture you paint of a once great marque. Same applies to Aston Martin, I suppose. My thinking cap is still on...

The other thing to consider RogK is depreciation. You will never anywhere near what you paid for it when it comes to selling, especially if you buy from a dealer. If you want a car which holds value and is unique (i.e the chassis, engine, running gear and switchgear are not shared), try an Audi. I bought a V6 Audi A6 last year and the quality is second to none. And depreciation is low.

Thanks, BigDogs - gratefully received information from, frankly, a bit of a novice in these matters.
