When I purchased the car for my wife I was only given one key, I contacted the person who had it prior to the person who sold it to me as I wanted to get the radio code for it, (AlBags got the code for me this evening, Thanks again AlBags) The previous owner told me he had an accident and the insurance company wrote the car off and he was paid out on it, he claimed that he had given two keys plus the manual etc. to the person who collected the car from him for the insurance company. When an insurance company collect a vehicle and then sell it at auction, is there any way that I can find out which company had taken possession of the car from the previous owner, or is this protected under the data protection laws? I want to get a spare key for the car but they cost over £60 so I thouight that if I were to contact the company they may still have the key for it

yes it is possible
however highly unlikely that any company will still have the second key.
Hi J ...
The key you are using ... Has it an inserted red chip? or a black one? This is flush with the key .. (PATS system) What year and model is the Fiesta?

It is an August 1999 Ford Fiesta with a 1299cc petrol engine, it has a red chip on the end of the key, (I feel a bit of an idiot as I thought it was a bit of red paint as I hadn't looked at it properly until you said that) Thanks again J.

Hi A1, There's a bloke on the market who says he can do the keys for £60, but I don't know whether they have the red chip in them, or whether this is cheap, the problem is that I think I'll need 2 keys as the key that Gaynor is using is almost smooth now.
