Renault Clio starting problem

I have an M-reg Renault Clio Prima 1.2l . The engine turns over O.K. but it won't start. Checked the ignition coil and it wasn't producing a spark. Replaced coil with a recon. unit and it still won't start and still no spark. Assuming that the recon. unit is O.K. is there anything else that I can check.
