I changed the battery in my electronic key fob, now as soon as I open the drivers door the alarm goes off and won't switch off till I get out and lock the door. Driving me mental. Can anyone help?

Try this to reset the key.
1) switch on ignition without starting engine
2) disconnect the battery, wait ten seconds
3) reconnect battery
4) remove key.
5)cross fingers and try.

Thanks sigma, I'll give it a try at lunchtime.

sigma, just to be clear, you are talking about disconnecting/reconnecting the battery in the key fob, not the car battery aren't you?

Still going off...don't know what to do other than drive through center of town screeching and with lights flashing to VW garage. Tried to re-synch key as per manual, but nothing working. Fob definitley sending signal, but car just not recognising it. Garage says I need second key (don't have it). Help anyone?
I meant the car battery
