A old couple told me that during the war years in Colchester some busses were converted to run on gas They towed a tank on a trailer behind them , and switched over to petrol to climb steep hills. Does anyone know about this .

During the war years 1940's a lot of cars wre fuelled by gas stored in a gas bag on the roof of the car contained in a frame. I do not know which gas they used this was in the days of coal gas, you are bound to find someone who knows the detail.
