Providing you put the jack in a sturdy place under the engine ( Not on Alloy or the Sump) remove the nut/bolts Jack which ever side that wants replacing, No problems.

Thnx twr, i,d heard that they were hydraulic related somwhere?? does this mean they have a hydraulic connection? or just the rubber mounts themselves are hydraulic filled?? my b/f said he would do it but im not 100% sure wether to let him try or not as hes not a mechanic.
Hi Jesyca, are we talking about the same item here? Engine mountings are the Parts that take the shock from body vibration from the Engine, are you talking about the Shock absorbers that are within the Suspension? If so, you are taking about a different job all together.

Hi twr

yes its the engine mounts, i took it to a garage and they said it would be 250 to replace both rubber engine mounts, i checked on the internet on google and it said something about them being hydraulic??? thnx for your replies
its a real bu$$er of a job that is why it cost so much, can you not look at the existing mountings to see what they are like?
Hi Jesyca, If Cazzz is familiar with this job I would not recommend your b/f even looking at it, these jobs can be easy but you can also come unstuck especially with the tools you need, I would look around for the parts if it is without a doubt they need replacing, then check out sites for prices, check out EBay but be warned do not use cheap Crp otherwise you will end up getting the job done again.
I suggested him looking at the parts to see if they were hydraulic or not. the job is fiddly but not impossible

Thnx cazz1975 and twr again for your replies, cazz you said it probably is going to be a bit of a nightmare to do, have you done them before on this model, the reason i ask is hes done them on his sisters fiesta before and they were real easy to do on this, but on my elantra they both are not at the front like the fiesta were, i just didnt want him to start it if hes likely to encounter any real probs which would then cost more in the long run. the rubber mounts do need replacing ive seen them from underneath the car when the garage showed me and you can tell when you are pulling away that something is not right. thnx again
