Check your plugs or replace, HT Leads.
Question Author
changed plugs and leads loses power after running for an hour
You emphasize an hour!! I would put this down to an Elec problem, the hour is giving an Item time to warm up then fail, Check the car at night to see if you can see any Tracking in the system.
Question Author
can you tell me what you mean by tracking please. We would agree with you go back to the car after 30 mins ok again8

Hi, make sure the area is dark near the car, lift up the bonnet start the car & look in the area of the HT leads are they showing signs (Like Lightning) around the lead area?
are all the lead pushed onto the plugs & are they a tight fit?
this sounds like a coil pack fault, check for spark at all leads when the problem occurs.
Question Author
sorry husband informs me had coil pack had plugs plug leads cost a fortune
When the car looses power have you noticed if its smoking?
Question Author
no not smoking had lots of probs with this car but kept it as we had spent so much on it had 2 cylinder head gaskets for a start this problem when first started seemed to be if the tank got under a quarter full but now that doesn't mean anything
Question Author
our mechanic is now beaten but have we paid for things we didn't need
Before the head gaskets went was the car ok? when you had the gaskets replaced was the Head Pressure tested & skimmed. was the valves reground or were they left in place? A lot of Q but thats the way to find your answer.
Question Author
when cylinder head was done was sent away to be shimmed
Hi, has the car been compression tested? you did not say whether the car was like this before the head problem.
Question Author
yes the car was like it before used it today ok once again for a couple of hours, then same again ,has been compression tested.Sometimes not always if you take the key out it rights itsself. Have you any more ideas
Question Author
forgot to say thankyou for the time you have spent with me
Remove the large plug for the ECU ( the cars brain) check that there is a good connection insert a little Vaseline to the pins & try. I like a challenge Bubs & this is one.
Question Author
I will try that in the morning this is a working car and needs to be running we have spent over 1500 quid on it in the last few months and just can't afford to spend anymore. Once again thanks vaseline on the way lol
