max budget of �6000 for family car

We're looking to buy a small(ish) family car and have a budget of around �6000. We like the look of the renault scenic and also the mercedes A class. Anyone have any experience of these? would you recommend? or are there any other cars we should be looking at?

Would you want to stow lots of stuff in the boot?

If so there's probably limited boot space in the Scenic or the A class for what you need.

we had a scenic for a few years and it was very good.

compered to our new car the scenic had plenty of room, especially for the kids in te booster seats.

the only downside was the depreciation value of it.

Vauxhall Vectras and Astras have quite large boot space ~ both in the saloon and hatchback models.

I would imagine that you could get either of those in your budget..however depreciation is another thing to consider with those.

Thanks for that. How do I find out what cars hold their value the best? We are happy to go for a 2-3 year old car and are open to suggestions as to make and model. Boot space is also always handy!
