Are you sure it was the immobiliser? Did the light flash rapidly when you tried to start the engine?

The reason I ask is that there are often problems with the top dead centre sensor which cause the same sorts of problems

Google for 'Renault TDC sensor fault' and see if any of it sounds familiar. It's very cheap and easy to fix if it is the problem.
as both have said, seems like a sensor problem.

thank's will do
sounds stupid but we had an identical fault on a megane scenic a couple of years ago. Turned out to be nothing more than a poor negative connection to the battery
some of the older renaults central locking/immobiliser systems were infra red and they had some probs with them, not sure if this is the system on your car maybe someone on here could know??
A while ago the car wouldnt start but i jump started it and then 3 weeks ago i got a new batteryToday the car started making clicking noises and then i couldnt start it the windows are down and there is no power there is a red light flashing which i imagine to be the imobiliser I have put a new battery in the keyfob still no power any ideas please?
