How do i fit a cd changer to my 96 escort?

I have just bought a 1996 (n reg) Ford Escort 1.8 td LX which comes fitted with a Ford 5000 RDS Eon radio cassette unit.

It says that it is cd changer compatable but don't know how to fit one if i had it. It says in the manual that it goes under the passenger seat although there are no obvious connections for this.

However, there is a space under the radio cassette unit - is this for it?

So, where would it go and how would i go about fitting it?
