I have problem with 2001 Ford KA engine cutting out when cold. I drive a short distance and at a junction or traffic lights when going into neutral the engine dies but restarts immediately. It does this several times and is then ok, otherwise the engine runs fine. Any ideas ? Could it be idle control ? TIA.

More like wrong info being fed to ecu giving wrong fuel settings when engine is cold. Really need to get it plugged in to diagnostic computer to get an error code.

Thanks for your info. Please excuse my ignorance but does the KA's old design Endura engine have an ECU ? I read it was based on the Kent engine from the late 1950's.
It will have a fuel injection system although it is an old engine design.
all cars now have ecu's.. i belive the KA's is in the passenger footwell, if u lift up the little bit of carpet near the door (you'll see what i mean oval shaped cut out) this wont help u much thought unless u have a diagnostic gadget to plug into it, which u can buy.

Thanks for your replies. I'll check it out.
I had this problem and its easy to fix, well for me it was the ICU (idle control valve) and it just needed cleaning, check this link to see what to do its very easy.

Thanks for that nick. SInce putting in the question I found out that this is a common problem on the Ka. I had the Idle Control Valve cleaned and it's been running fine ever since.
