i used to put vinegar in my washer bottle. just add a small amount to the water. it cleans as well, if not better than most comercial windscreen wash addatives.

one word of advice. dont use too much. it leaves the outside of your car smelling...

have used it neat on a bit of kitchen roll to clean wiper blades and glass.
Get some Rainx from Halfords and follow the instructions.
ive used rainx on two cars.. i didnt like the results either time.... i found it created droplets of water on the screen instead of the regular wetness i was used to.
for me, the droplets gather more light so create little lights all over the front window. this i found was distracting especials when driving unlit roads. on coming cars lit the screen up......
Yeah i agree with the vinegar, its good stuff...
hi deggers try using double o grade wire wool use it dry on your windscreen then rinse with warm water and leather dry.
when cleaning your windscreen in future use a liquid (alcohol based) cleaner (rather than a cream) with scrunched up sheets of newspaper. *trade tip*
Vinegar and a good old linin cloth or cotton Tshirt..
wipe the vinegar on and wipe off with the clean cloth.
Check the condition of your window rubbers too. A lot of rubbers will deteriorate quite quickly and leave traces of rubber and oils on the window everytime it rains.
I always add about 15-20% of methylated spirits to the water bottle. It whiffs for a few seconds when you wash the screen but it isn't unpleasant and it removes any muck and insects instantly. It also prevents the water freezing on frosty mornings unless the temperature is very cold.
This might sound daft but if it's not clearing contaminents with your products is it maybe just a case of needing new wiper blades. Even if they are only maybe a year old. I had similar problem and always assumed it was wax in the stuff i was washing the car with that was sticking to the glass. I eventually gave in and got new blades and they worked wonders.
Have tried many off the shelf goodies for this problem and have so far not found one that works as well as using a small amount of jewellers rouge on a cloth going over the screen gently and carefully.
